My Background
Over my twenty plus years as a therapist, I have worked in a variety of settings, helping people with many different types of difficulties.
Anxiety has been a common thread running through the types of problems I have helped people with.
In addition to my counseling experience, I worked for seven years as a social worker with disabled children and adults, and their families.
I have also worked in middle management, and as a supervisor of counselors and interns in training.
On a Personal Note…
Various anxiety reduction, guided imagery, mindfulness and meditation practices have been a regular part of my life over a twenty plus year period. Research shows that this type of personal practice of a therapist is beneficial to their work with clients.
I love walking in nature, and recommend it as a way to reduce stress and anxiety. In my experience, even a short walk outdoors, paying attention to nature, is a healing balm. You may be surprised to find elements of nature, even in an urban setting. You may find some posts about nature in my blog.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques are one of my favorite ways of helping others. I also find them beneficial myself, and have used them in times of feeling depressed or anxious. They are a wonderful tool for staying on top of your feelings and nipping any depression or anxiety in the bud.
In my therapy practice, you can feel free to explore issues of religion and spirituality as they affect your life. Be assured that I will not try to impose any particular religious belief on you.
I have the utmost respect for the philosophical and spiritual views of all, including those who want to stick with secular answers to life’s challenges.
